The Logo Design & Chop

When creating the logo and chop seal designs for WCKKFT, there were two essential components to factor for:

Authenticity & Centerline Theory

Mook Yan Jong/Wooden Dummy

Authentic Ip Man Wing Chun

Centerline Principle

Authenticity

Teaching an art form as it was intended by its creators is very important in bridging the gap between East and West. Kung fu was originally not meant to be taught to outsiders and keeping the teachings authentic to their source is extremely important as a matter of respect and preservation.

  • Cantonese lettering to accompany the English version of the name.
  • Yin and Yang to represent balance.

Centerline Theory

One of the core principles of Wing Chun is the centerline theory. This states that the shortest distance between two points is a straight line and is a key component to the Wing Chun style of simultaneous defense and offense. When training, students are directed to focus on the center of their opponent.

  • “The shortest distance between two points is a straight line.”
  • Wing Chun focuses on a center point for both offense and defense.

Mook Yan Jong/Wooden Dummy Vector Illustration

One of the Wing Chun practitioners most valuable tools, the Mook Yan Jong (Wooden Dummy) is essential in Wing Chun Kung Fu serving two primary purposes:

  • A Training Partner That Never Tires Perfecting the movements of simultaneous defense and offense requires consistent training. Often times, the student will not have a live partner to train with. This is where the Wooden Dummy’s 3 wooden arms and 1 wooden leg come in. Simulating a person’s body, this tool becomes vital in honing and retaining martial arts skill while training.
  • Proper Form – This stationary training partner also helps to develop proper fighting forms. Students and masters alike consistently train on the Mook Yan Jong in order to perfect their movements, also known as forms.
